The 14U Thompson Valley youth baseball team, a feeder team for the Eagles' high school program, won the USSSA state tournament over the weekend.
The Eagles rolled off four straight wins en route to the title, clinching the championship with a 13-4 victory over the Runnin' Royals of Westminster on Sunday at All-Star Park in Lakewood.
Solid defense, stout pitching by Eli Mendoza and a pair of triples by James Dyken powered the Eagles to victory over the Royals. Dyken's second three-bagger of the day cleared the bases with two outs in the final inning to clinch the win.
The team by coached Ron Dyer and Caleb Carlson also includes Jacob Bierman, David Anderson, Landon Carlson, Kameron Hanel, Jonah Gustafson, Isaac Levin, Hunter Anderson, Ethan Payne, Ben Voigt and Trevor Windisch.
